this post is a bit different from my other posts but I decided to write it as I witnessed something heartbreaking recently. So basically, a colleague of mine told me that his dad had been diagnosed with cancer in both lungs, a brain tumor and only had a few months left to live. this isn’t something he kept from us either, he and his dad only found out about this in the past week. It all started over a persistent cough that came about before Christmas.
What I’m trying to say is don’t take your loved ones for granted, don’t hold any grudges and spend as much time with them as you can because you don’t know what the future holds. Absolutely anything can happen and I wouldn’t wish it on anybody to lose someone they love and have regrets. You’ll never get rid of those regrets, they’ll always linger.
I’m not trying to depress or upset anyone by this post. I just want to raise awareness that anything can happen. We wont all necessarily die from old age, there are illnesses, crimes and accidents in this world too and they can happen at any time.
So I’ll say it again. Don’t take your loved ones for granted. Spend time with them, smile with them, laugh with them and tell them that you love them everyday.
I apologise if this post was rather depressing, but after hearing such terrible news I instantly thought about my own parents and how I want to make the effort to spend more time with them. Everyone gets so focused on life that they forget about the important people around them and forget that those people wont be around forever.
Take care all,
