The Benefits of Leather Bags

Hey guys and welcome to my blog!

Today I’ll be talking about a different topic other than lifestyle and make up as I also enjoy a bit of fashion too!! Todays post is about bags and the best kind of material for them. I love handbags but I always find they are breaking so I’ve decided to invest in a decent leather bag. Here is some info about Leather and best best type for bags.

Bags come in all different shapes, sizes, colours and fabrics and we all want to choose something that’s enough for all our essentials whilst long lasting. Like I’ve mentioned before there are lots of different fabrics when it comes to bags, polyester/nylon bags normally being the first choice. Leather is a great alternative when it comes to comparing the different fabrics. I know you’re thinking “Woah Cazz, leather? that’s expensive, why would I pay more than I usually would?” The strength and resilience of leather makes it very practical to use. It’s a versatile material and grants protection to you items, especially in the rain as it is naturally water resistant. It’s sure to last a long time. Most of my Leather knowledge came from a website called MAHI and here you can read an article by them on why leather is used for bags.

It’s a stylish material that never goes out of fashion and can be easily maintained by a gentle wipe down with a damp cloth.

So here’s the thing: there are many different types of leather the most recommended being full grain leather. Why this type of leather you ask? Well, let me give you the run down.

Full Grain Leather is the highest quality leather and is most noted for its strength and durability. It typically lasts 5 times longer than fabric and improves over time. With the right care, a full grain leather bag could last you decades!!

It comes from the strongest most durable part from the hide and gain more fibre strength and durability as it ages.

I feel that leather bags are more of an investment. Whilst one leather bag could last you years, if using nylon, you would go through a good dozen. Unlike leather, nylon also stains very easily.

So overall, leather, ideally full grain, is definitely the best material when youre looking for a good quality bag!

    • Full Grain are typically more expensive than your average leather bag. If you’ve saved up and don’t mind paying a little bit extra they can cost anything from £80 – £90 upwards. What you can also do (and something I do) is check out ebay as there’s some good deals on there with good condition second hand full grain bags 🙂

      Thanks for reading xx
