My name is Carrie and for the past 10 years I have always wanted to be a beauty blogger. Previously I ran my own blog and YouTube channel but I had other things going on and just found I didn’t have the time or motivation to continue it. I decided recently that I wanted to try it again, and do it in my own time, no pressure and no deadlines.
I’ve been into makeup and beauty for as long as I can remember, I remember when I was about 11 or 12 years old and I was experimenting with my mums makeup, making a mess of it all! I used to put my foundation on quite thick as I thought I needed more to cover up my skin, nine times out of ten I looked like an Oompa Loompa or like I had just been rolling in a bag of cheesy Doritos!
when I hit 14 , I discovered the growing beauty community on YouTube and fell in love with it! I followed tutorials almost daily and slowly, my skills in makeup started to grow (no more doritoing). Not long after my discovery, I realised that making videos and posting them online was something I wanted to do, but I felt I was nowhere near good enough for it. All the YouTubers were so pretty and thin, I was spotty and slightly on the chunky side. So I decided not to follow my dream.
About 4 years later, I finally decided to give it a go and posted my first few videos on YouTube! The beauty community had grown an awful lot by then so it was hard to get noticed! I continued my channel for a few months, hoping my audience would grow, and it did, but really really slowly. I lost heart and faith in myself and had other stuff going on at the time that I just gave up as I had lost all motivation.
Now I’m back and I’m here for good. I may start out with a tiny audience, but as long as I’m reaching someone, helping them, inspiring them, I’m living my dream 🙂
