E.L.F Review and Swatches

I feel like I havent posted in ages even though it’s only been a bit over a week! The reason is because I got a new job! It was my first week last week and I absolutely love it! I guess I’m going to have to find a routine so I can go to work, gym then blog as I seem to struggle doing all three at the moment!

Back to the blog 😛

E.L.F has finally come to the UK! I’m probably a little behind but as soon as I found out, I rushed out to my closest Superdrug and grabbed a few products. As you all know, I’m a huge fan of foundations so I only brought a foundation, primer and concealer.

The first product I picked up was the tone adjusting face primer. There was no tester on this and there were so many to choose from so I was literally going on my own instinct. When I got home to try it, I was pleasantly surprised with a gorgeous smoothing texture that makes my face feel so matte! This cost £9.00 which is roughly what I would pay and I have to say, you’re definitely getting your moneys worth!

Next Is the foundation and I went for the Foundation Serum. I wasn’t sure which to go with at first and had my heart set on this one even though it looked slightly too dark in the bottle (again no tester). This product cost £9 and I’m so happy I went ahead with it. I’t looked dark on the bottle, but it is the perfect shade for my skin tone. It feels very smoothing and like it says on the bottle, it’s a serum. I’d say it has light to medium coverage but could definitely be buildable!

Last up is the HD Lifting Concealer. I LOVE Concealers and I was really impressed with the formula of this one! The only thing I was disappointed with was the fact you had a choice of three shades which are fair, medium and dark and there were no testers. I went for fair and when I tried it on my skin at home it was slightly too dark, so I wouldn’t recommend it for building. It does make a great under eye concealer as it is slightly orange toned.

Overall I’m really pleased with my first E.L.F products and am definitely going back for more!

What’s your favourite E.L.F products and which would you recommend?

Gosh Foundation Plus Review

I’ve been wanting to do this post for quite sometime now and am really happy that I’m finally doing it! I’m a bit of and purchased this on impulse as I had some spare dosh and wanted to try a GOSH product. This is the second product I’ve used by GOSH (the first being a lipstick) and I have to ask myself, why didn’t I buy it sooner!!?? The product I’m talking about is the Foundation Plus Cover and Conceal.

I purchased this beaut for £9.99(and for the product your buying, I’d definitely say its worth it), and I’ve completely fallen in love with it. I really feel like GOSH don’t get the recognition they deserve as I’ve never see them in blog posts or YouTube videos. It comes in a cute, small squeezy bottle and you get 30ml or product which is about standard. It also gives medium to heavy coverage and is very buildable, it definitely lives up to the “cover and conceal” statement. It’s quite a creamy formula and I’d say is high quality!

What makes this one of my favourite foundations is that even though it gives medium to heavy coverage, it doesn’t stick to dry skin and doesn’t look cakey giving a semi-matte finish. I find that a small amount of product goes a long way and an added bonus is that it’s long lasting!!!

I’m looking forward to trying more products from GOSH and I really hope that one day I would get the opportunity of  working with them in the future!

Thanks for reading! XOXOXO

The Body Shop Moisture Foundation Review

If you don’t already know, I’m a sucker for a good foundation and I will just keep buying and buying until I feel I’ve found the right one. I guess I could say I’m obsessed with having a flawless face (even though this never happens for me, but hey! A girl can dream, right?)

This foundation was one of my first purchases from The Body Shop, along with a couple of other products and I don’t understand why I had never brought from them before! I guess it was because I always thought that they were overpriced, but at £13.99 for a foundation, who can complain, that’s actually quite good!!

The product is aimed at those with dry skin (which I have plenty of) and gives medium to heavy coverage. It comes in lots of different shades and if they don’t have the exact shade for you, you can buy these drops that either lighten or darken the product. It comes in a nice clear plastic foundation bottle so you can see the product, the colour of it and how much you have left. It also has a silver lid and a silver bottom.

Needless to say, I certainly was not disappointed after giving this product a go. It made my skin look and feel so dewy and hydrated, which is something I don’t think I’ve ever experienced. It’s also super blendable and the coverage is indeed medium/heavy, it depends on how much you build it up.I absolutely love this product and if you were to come to me and ask for a recommendation on a foundation, I’d definitely recommend this one!

This Trick Might Make Make Up Application Easier!!

I was browsing YouTube the other day and decided to catch upon some Wayne Goss videos. One video caught my eye in particular and boy, was I glad I watched it! It was a tip video on applying your moisturiser in a way that can make your face a flawless base for foundation.

Basically, when you apply your moisturiser, you’re not applying a pea-sized amount to your face, you need to apply two baby carrot sized amount to your face (does that make sense? I did actually measure it against a baby carrot). I know that sounds like a lot  but the trick is to apply it gradually so it all sinks in. Once the first layer dries, add the next layer and so on, until you’ve used all the moisturiser up.

After I had done this and allowed it to dry, my skin felt so smooth! Like a babys butt!! I applied my foundation like I usually do and it went on flawlessly!! I was super impressed.

Have you tried this technique yet If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments below!

Nivea For Men Shaving Balm… You’ll Never Guess What!

Guess what this product can be used as? Go on, guess!

You’ll never guess! I couldn’t until I was told that it could be used a makeup primer!!

I thought that this statement was so ridiculous that I decided to do the sensible thing (and probably what everyone else would do) and try it out for myself. I brought myself a bottle from my local Morrisons for £5 (Bargain!!) and tried it out as soon as I got home. It looked like a primer and felt like a primer, so far so good.

I applied my make up as I usually do and it felt like it went on smoothly. I looked at the final outcome and my make up looked flawless! I decided to see how long it would last so I left it on until I went to bed and it still looked just as good then! I’ve been using this as a primer everyday!

If you haven’t tried it yet, I’d really recommend you do. Let me know what you think about this product! (make sure you keep an eye out for which one you buy as there is a normal version and sensitive version. The normal version can irritate your skin!)

Makeup for work days!

I don’t know about you guys but I’m never up early enough to do a full face of makeup for work, I just love my sleep way too much!. So now, I have come up with a routine that is quick and has me looking presentable.

First off after my skincare routine (I always make time for that) I apply a primer. This will help keep my skin hydrated, keep my makeup looking good, help it last longer and help fill in my cavernous pores.

After my primer has dried (this is sped up by fanning my face frantically) I then apply my foundation. Depending on my skin and its current condition, I will choose anything from a tinted cream to a regular foundation.

Next I’ll conceal my dark circles and any other horrific mark on my face. This is blended with a beauty blender. Please excuse the concealer palette, I’d clean it but it’ll only get messy again as I use it pretty much everyday!

I don’t usually bother with contouring when I go to work as I never have the time, so instead I’ll apply a bit of bronzer all over my face to give me a healthy glow and keep me from looking like something out of the Living Dead. After I’ll apply my favourite blush and finish off with a dab of highlighter under my eyes, cheekbones, forehead, bridge of my nose, Cupid’s bow and chin.

Next up I’ll do my eyebrows. If I have time to spare, I’ll use a brow palette and a brow defining gel. If not then I’ll just use the brow defining gel.

Mascara comes next. I’ll apply a few coats to boost the volume of my lashes and if I have enough time I’ll add some eyeliner. I never use false lashes for work as they take forever for me to put on!

Lastly I’ll finish off with a soft shade of lipstick or a lip balm to brighten up my face.

If I really am running late then I’ll skip the bronzer, blush  and highlighter and do it when I’m at work as it only takes a few minutes 🙂

Avon Haul

Hey guys! Here I have for you another mini haul. I brought a few bits from Avon recently as I love the, and their products. They do some good makeup for a decent price.

First up I decided to give their cream to powder foundation a go even though I don’t usually buy foundations I can’t try out before buying them. The one thing that really persuaded me was my sister had this foundation quite a while back and it look flawless on her face!

Next I got the Avon CC Pearls. I’ve used colour correcting concealer a before which work wonders on my face so I figured I’d give these a go and see what the outcome is.

Like foundations, if I’m unable to try a lipstick before I buy it, it’s very unlikely that I will actually buy it. I saw this lipstick was on offer so I decided to give it a go! I got it in their nude shade ‘Au Naturale’.

The last few bits I purchased were an eyeliner that came as a free gift, an angled double ended eyeliner brush and a duo sharpener.

Keep an eye out for reviews on these products :).
